KP Staffing is now hiring Decommission technicians for a company that manufactures power distribution equipment in Coffeyville, KS!
Job Summary
The decommission technician will safely and efficiently disassemble decommissioned power distribution equipment, recover usable materials, and support salvage operations. This role includes handling tools, machinery, and materials while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards in the work area.
Pay
$23 per hour
Shift
1st shift: 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday – Friday
Duties
Disassemble decommissioned power distribution units
Furnish basic tools needed for assigned tasks
Recover metals and usable components from decommissioned units
Handle and dispose of oils, solvents, and other liquid compounds according to safety protocols
Transfer units along the conveyor track from processing to the decommissioning area
Use hand and pneumatic tools to support disassembly and salvage operations
Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as required
Maintain accountability for shop tools and equipment within the assigned work area
Work overtime and respond to call-in hours as needed
Collaborate with team members in a shared work environment
Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
Perform field decommissioning at offsite locations when requested
Package and bale salvaged materials for shipment
Load trailers with prepared materials for transport
Perform additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Driver’s license preferred
Must be self-directed and able to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision
Ability to perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and more than 50 pounds of force frequently
Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, balancing, pulling, stooping, lifting, crawling, crouching, repetitive motion, grasping, and kneeling
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
Ability to work in extreme cold and extreme heat for extended periods
Ability to work in high noise environments and around vibration
Ability to work around moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, and oils
Ability to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment including eye protection, gloves, and hearing protection
