Fitter (2nd Shift)
KP Staffing is now hiring Fitters in Haltom City, Texas!
Job Summary
The fitter will lay out, fabricate, fit, and join steel components used in structural applications. This role works from drawings and specifications to ensure components are positioned and fitted accurately before welding and meet required quality standards.
Pay
$23.00 – $31.00 per hour
Retention Bonus
Eligible fitter new hires may earn up to $5,000 through a retention bonus program, subject to program requirements.
Shift
Monday – Thursday
5:30 P.M. – 5:00 A.M.
Friday
3:30 P.M. – 2:00 A.M.
Saturdays as needed
40-55 hours per week
Duties
- Lay out, position, fit, and join steel components according to drawings and specifications
- Prepare structural components for welding
- Measure and verify fit-up using tape measures, squares, levels, and templates
- Operate overhead and jib cranes, hoists, grinders, cutting torches, and related fabrication tools
- Inspect fit-up quality and correct issues as needed
- Maintain production and quality standards
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain an organized work area
- Cross-train and support additional fabrication tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch
- Basic shop math skills
- Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols
- Must pass MICA’s New-Hire Fitter Assessment
- Fitting/fabrication experience in structural steel, tubular products, pipe fitting, ship fitting, or similar metal trades preferred
- Overhead/jib crane experience or ability to certify
- Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
