Job Summary
The crane operator will operate a 35-ton crane to load, unload, transport, and position materials within the facility and designated storage areas. This role also inspects lifting equipment, supports safe material handling operations, and maintains organized storage areas according to work orders and production needs.

Duties
Inspect cables, slings, hooks, grappling devices, and other lifting equipment for signs of wear, damage, or deterioration before use
Conduct visual inspections of equipment and work areas at the beginning of each shift and report issues to the supervisor
Determine load weights and verify them against crane and lifting equipment capacities to prevent overloading
Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on crane components and lifting mechanisms, including cables, pulleys, and grappling devices
Review daily work schedules, delivery plans, and work orders to determine loading priorities, delivery sequences, and special handling requirements
Ensure the availability, proper condition, and control of required lifting equipment, including chains, slings, C-hooks, and related accessories
Organize and arrange slit coil side surfaces according to production and work order requirements
Manage the slit coil storage area and maintain inventory organization in accordance with work orders and material handling procedures
Communicate and collaborate with slitting operators, yard operators, and other team members to support efficient operations
Prepare and submit daily activity reports, operational updates, and equipment-related requests to management
Place the crane remote control in the designated storage location at the beginning and end of each shift
Operate a 35-ton crane to load, unload, transport, and position pipe bundles, coils, containers, and materials within the facility and designated storage areas
Follow 5S workplace organization and housekeeping standards
Comply with all personal protective equipment requirements, safety policies, and workplace safety regulations
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum of 1 year of relevant overhead crane operating experience required
Experience operating a 45-ton or larger overhead crane preferred
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for operating machinery, hand tools, and handheld technical devices
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, operating procedures, and safe overhead crane operations
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required to support production demands
