Job Summary
The furnace operator will operate high-temperature industrial furnaces to heat, anneal, and process copper and copper alloy wire, bars, and profiles to required metallurgical specifications.
Pay
$21 per hour
Duties

Regulate fuel, air, electrical current, and water coolants to heat industrial ovens to precise metallurgical specifications

Move, stage, and load heavy coils of copper wire, rods, or strips into ovens using forklifts, hoists, or overhead cranes

Track heat-treatment cycles and perform visual inspections or pull samples to verify hardness, tensile strength, and color

Conduct standard machine cleanings, clear debris from heating chambers, and check flow valves or seals

Accurately log production times, heat levels, and material batch tracking numbers

Follow required PPE and workplace safety procedures
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent

English and Spanish bilingual proficiency

Previous experience in metal refining, heavy manufacturing, or a hot industrial assembly plant is highly preferred

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 8-to-12-hour shifts as required to perform essential job functions

Ability to work in highly humid or hot conditions over 100°F

Willingness or ability to obtain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification and complete safety training for forklifts or motorized pallet jacks

Adherence to required PPE, including steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection
